The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) has approved the operating plan of the Cooperative Health Insurance Fund to cover what exceeds the coverage limit for private health insurance beneficiaries of medium and small-sized enterprises employees and their dependents.

This was during the virtual meeting held under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Minister of Health and Chairman of the Council Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, where he welcomed and thanked the attendees for their significant efforts that have contributed to the development of the private health insurance market industry.

Then, the Secretary General Dr. Shabab bin Saad Al-Ghamdi reviewed the topics on the agenda, where he presented a summary report on the performance of the Council's Secretariat during Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and the online services (remotely) it provided to all beneficiaries.
After that, the CCHI discussed the latest developments in the Cooperative Health Insurance Fund project, where Al-Ghamdi clarified that the Fund will be launched at the end of this year. He pointed out that the Fund will contribute to providing full coverage and protection to the target segments of the system by managing the financial coverage of insurance claims for each insured whose insurance policy exceeds 500,000 SR, the maximum limit of the cooperative health insurance policy, The Fund will also raise the level of health services procedures, reduce the financial burden on employers, enhance the regulatory and legislative environment of the sector, and improve sustainability and innovation in the private health insurance market.

The CCHI also discussed extensively the proposal of the General Secretariat about developing the basic benefits package and optional insurance.
Al-Ghamdi indicated that the development of the health insurance policy benefits is subject to a number of criteria, including the importance of the benefit, the health needs of the insured and the financial impact on the value of the annual insurance premium. The CCHI has decided to form a working group from the relevant authorities (Ministry of Health, SAMA, Ministry of Commerce, representatives of health insurance companies, service providers and employers) to take their views and raise the recommendations during the next session.
Then, the identity and logo of the UniPlat were reviewed, and the CCHI agreed to approve the name (Nafis) for the UniPlat Program to exchange medical insurance transactions electronically, which provides the CCHI with real-time information to achieve the organizational and supervisory objectives of the health insurance sector.
The UniPlat Program will greatly benefit all the parties to the relationship of insurance as it will contribute to raising the quality of health care provider services, increase the efficiency and effectiveness of health insurance companies and improve patient safety and satisfaction with the services provided to them.
