Launching First Package of Medical Protocols Covering 35% of Diseases CCHI and SSFCM Strengthening Joint Cooperation

The Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) has launched the first package of medical protocols, which is the first outcome of the Cooperation Agreement between the CCHI and the Saudi Society of Family and Community Medicine (SSFCM) that covers 35% of diseases. The most important of which are: diabetes, hypertension and high cholesterol.
The launch took place on the sidelines of signing an annex to the concluded Memorandum of Understanding between the two bodies. The MOU has guaranteed the CCHI to be the first official sponsor of various scientific activities of the SSFCM that help in building the required competencies to transfer the health system to the stage of providing valuable health care services in line with ensuring the scientific independence of these activities.

The Secretary General of the CCHI Dr. Shabab Bin Saad Al-Ghamdi said: “The Annex that was signed yesterday aims at benefiting from the specialized medical expertise of the SSFCM and has also entrusted it with the task of preparing a set of medical protocols that are mainly intended to develop and improve the level of health care services for the insured."
He explained that the medical protocols aim at improving the quality of health care at service providers, ensuring the quality of services provided by health insurance companies, improving the experience of patients who are insured, reducing the difference gap in medical performance and reaching to the optimal use of health resources.
Al-Ghamdi indicated that the second package of the medical protocols would be completed during the third quarter of this year and would cover 25% of diseases, and followed by the third package at the end of the fourth quarter to cover 15% of diseases. Noting that the MOU with its Annex will enhance the strategic objective of the CCHI by adopting and spreading the concept of Value-Based Health Care (VBHC) in collaboration with all partners including health care service providers, health insurance companies and scientific entities, in addition to the social responsibility.
He also indicated that the Agreement includes an action plan to support the SSFCM in the area of issuing clinical guidelines that will improve the safety of health service beneficiaries and the quality of medical services.
It is worth mentioning that the CCHI and SSFCM signed a memorandum of understanding within the framework of community participation on the sidelines of the SSFCM Conference 2019. This Agreement was signed remotely by the Secretary General of the CCHI Dr. Shabab Bin Saad Al-Ghamdi and the head of the SSFCM's eastern region bureau Dr. Hadi Al-Anzi.​
